Dave Flaccus interview, 1984 July 10.

Flaccus became a smokejumper in 1943 through the Civilian Public Service Program after serving as a firefighter in 1941 and 1942. He describes fire jumps, becoming a rigger, the financial problems of the conscientious objectors, and the moral pressure on the conscientious objectors to do a good job.
